Online reviews can make or break your business. They provide valuable customer insight into the aspects of your business that are working and those that you need to improve.

The simple truth is: If you aren’t sending review links to your customers, you’re missing out on important business. That’s because you can also use online feedback to boost your digital reputation and win more sales. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Be Where the Reviews Are

Most, if not all, people will look you up before deciding to do business with you. That’s why it’s always best to start with Google. Don’t have a Google Business Profile? Make one. 81% of customers use Google to evaluate local businesses. Be present where people prefer to leave reviews.

After you’ve listed your business on Google, continue setting up your business profile on other online platforms where people are likely to leave reviews.

Google might be the preferred website for most customers to leave reviews, but the amount of traffic other review sites get is still pretty substantial. Listing your business on as many popular review sites as possible is paramount to growing your customer base—and in turn, increasing your bottom line.

Keep It Simple

People do not have the time to read an essay on how and why you want them to review you. If you wish to encourage customers to leave reviews, make the process as simple as possible. Respect their time, get to the point quickly, and let them know where they can leave reviews. Even your customers who aren’t tech-savvy will likely leave reviews if the process is straightforward.

Follow-up by Sending Review Requests

If you’re thinking something along the lines of — “Customers who want to leave a review, will. Asking won’t make a difference” — you‘d be wrong. Did you know that 72% of people asked to leave a review will do so? There’s a sizeable number of customers willing to leave a review for your business but overlook it for various reasons.

More often than not, customers will not be able to leave a review immediately after doing business with you. When this happens, you can simply follow up by sending a review request and reminding customers to leave a review on their preferred site within a few days.

Display Reviews on Your Website

Diversify your content and optimize your website by featuring customer reviews on your landing page. This will improve your organic page rankings and help you get found fast online. More local traffic means more revenue for your business.
